Since 2006 Fode has successfully brought students to his home town of Conakry to study drum and dance in it's natural environment. Students have the unique opportunity to study with members of "Les Ballets Africains" the national ballet of Guinea, as well as observe their rehearsals and performances. Outside of classes students will attend local Doundounbas (drum and dance circles), shop at local markets, experience the night life of Conakry, have instruments hand made and most of all connect with the people of Guinea. Pricing includes: Room and Board, 3 meals a day of delicious African food (Rice, chicken, fish, vegetables, fresh fruit), Dance and drum classes and transportation to workshop related events. Cancelation Policy: $200 Cancelation fee After October 1st, $500 After November 1st, No refund for cancelations made after November 30th.
Not included in pricing: Airfare to Conakry, Visa, Free time activities (shopping, taxis, night clubs, etc.) You may choose to come for 2, 3, or 4 weeks. 8:00 - 9am Breakfast
9:00 - 10:30am Drum Class
10:30 - 12:00pm Dance Class
12:00 - 1pm Lunch
1:00 - 3pm Free Time
3:00 - 4:30pm Drum Class
4:30 - 6:00pm Dance Class
Evening: Free time to shop, explore, attend local festivals or performances and much more!
Sundays - No class, time to rest connect with the people, have a private lesson, go to the beach or the pool, get your hair braided, have clothes tailor made... the choices are endless.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Roundtrip ticket to Conakry, Guinea.
Passport with at least 6 months until expiration
MANDATORY VISA to enter Guinea ($100)
Mandatory evidence of Yellow Fever vacination
(other health related info available at www.cdc.gov/travel)
Recommended: Travel insurance and health insurance that covers outside of the U.S.
